Blue Boar Regatta

There were five of us at the start: Rolf, Mark, Peter, Dick (Brundle), and me. The wind was typical. gusty and squirrely, so that there was no time when you could hook-in without being dropped to windward as the breeze shut off or dragged over on top of your sail by a gust or shift.

Peter had trouble in the first leg and made it down to the beach in his car. Rolf and Mark battled for first place, and Dick and I dueled for last. I led Dick almost all the way until he pulled ahead when I fell with the beach almost in sight.

I started the second leg with Dick about 1:15 behind me. I looked back after I exited the S-section and entered the first long straight section, but I never saw Dick's sail again (His arms were cramping up, so he bagged it). I got into the lagoon, down the canal, through the first bridge, and around the second bridge before Rolf passed me. I got under the first bridge again before Mark passed me. I hung on to finish third.It was a wild ride. Everyone fell in numerous times. A good opener.

Wind was good, 12 to 15. Sun and flat water with no noticeable current. Martin won his first race by going WAY inshore (and risking running aground) which saved him a tack and let him catch his father.
