The members of Fleet 18 are interested in using sailboards to enjoy a form of small boat racing, to learn techniques and to enjoy each other's company. The members of Fleet 18 are not interested in spending a lot of money on equipment or outdoing each other in buying the latest and greatest stuff, feeling that if all the equipment is pretty much the same then the main thing that will make a win will be his or her technique.
We do not have wind limits for our races but have been known to cancel events with zero wind and scrub a race in favor of short-board sailing when the wind goes over 30mph.
We do abide by the USYRU rules but are tolerant of beginners who may not know them all.
We like a party as well as anyone else and frequently meet at inexpensive restaurants after events.
